St. John the Evangelist is the Parish
Church of South Bank, which is an
Urban Parish on the North Eastern
coast of the United Kingdom.
We form part of the Anglican
Communion of the Deanery of
Middlesbrough, and are within the
Diocese of York.
The foundation stone for St. John’s
was laid on the feast day of Ss.
Simon and Jude on the 28th October
1893, the church was complete in
1895. It has endured two World Wars
serving the needs of our small
community, and stands today as it
always has done, as a symbol of
hope, a place of sanctuary, and as an
assurance of God’s love for His
children.
